Accessibility
What Flab verifies automatically, and what still needs a human. Automated checks prove specific properties hold; they cannot establish that an interface is accessible.
Verified in CI
- Every component test asserts
jest-axefinds no violations across its variants and states. - The token layer's contrast tests hold text, focus rings, status pills and chart tracks to WCAG 2.2 AA — in both light and dark themes.
- Colour never carries meaning alone: every bar, gauge and status pill requires textual content, enforced at the type level or in tests.
- Focus is always visible (an outline that reads on any surface), disabled controls stay keyboard-reachable, and interactive state is exposed through ARIA.
- Animation is dropped under
prefers-reduced-motion.
Still needs a human
- Screen-reader walkthroughs with VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS.
- Full keyboard journeys through assembled pages, not just single components.
- Testing with OS zoom, high-contrast modes and 200% text.
- Expert review of the dark theme, whose values were derived, not designed.
Automated coverage is a floor, not a ceiling. A green axe run means these specific rules pass on the rendered output — it is not a WCAG conformance claim.
